The invention concerns a ship comprising at least one motor for driving the ship and at least one crane. To lift the motor at least one crane can be brought into engagement with the at least one motor through at least one closable opening. The invention further concerns a ship drive for driving a ship as well as a method of exchanging ship motors arranged within a ship for driving the ship together with peripheral devices. The invention further concerns the use of a wind power installation generator.

a ship drive that includes:
a propulsion unit;first and second electric motors for driving the ship;a unit for transmitting power from the first and second electric motors to the propulsion unit so that the first and second electric motors are configured to be operated selectively and jointly; andone or more current converters associated with each of the first and second electric motors, the current converters being arranged in a spaced relationship with the first and second electric motors; and at least one crane that is configured to lift the first and second motors without the propulsion unit, wherein the at least one crane engages with one of the first and second motors through at least one closable opening in the ship.
