Copying-apparatus comprises a stylus 20 for following a fixed template 24 and for controlling a cutting tool 4 on a support 1 which can be pivoted and displaced in a direction parallel to the work axis 28, the stylus being adapted to swivel with respect to the tool and to be adjusted in a direction perpendicular to the work axis. The tool is carried by a hydraulically-operated slide 3 controlled by a pilot valve 6 which is actuated in response to the movements of the stylus 20, the latter being adjustably secured to a lever 18 pivoted on a shaft 14 and in engagement with a projecting portion 21 of the valve 6. This shaft may be slidably adjusted, by a screw 15 and a lock-nut 17, in arms 13 of a carriage 9, which may in turn be slidably adjusted by a screw 10 in a support 8 which is pivotally adjustable with respect to the support for the valve 6, and locked by screws 25. The support 1 is pivoted about a centre-pin 27 to obtain the required angle between the tool and the work, while the direction in which the carriage 9 slides is maintained perpendicular to the template-profile by adjustment of the support 8. The invention may be applied to a lathe or to a planing or shaping machine. |
