Treatment of soft tissue injury using hyaluronic acid and botulinum toxin

There is provided a method for supporting soft tissue in a mammal. The method may in aspects treat acutely or chronically injured soft tissue in an animal or human, the method comprising administering a therapeutically effective amount of HA and botulinum toxin in combination around the injured soft tissue. The method is useful for the treatment of sprain and strain in an animal such as a human.

A method for treating sprain or strain injury to a soft tissue selected from the group consisting of epithelial, muscular, and connective tissues in a mammal, the method comprising administering a therapeutically effective amount of hyaluronic acid (HA) and botulinum toxin type A around the site of said soft tissue, wherein administering is done by a mode selected from the group consisting of peri-articular administration, peri-ligamentous administration, peri-musculotendinous administration, peri-fascial administration and combinations thereof, and wherein said HA and botulinum toxin form an internal scaffold around said soft tissue to provide an internal physical support.
