Provided is a battery module assembly, which comprises unit modules consisting of a plurality of battery cells mounted on a pair of cell frames and electrically coupled by a pair of terminal plates. The battery module assembly comprises: two or more sub-modules which consist of the unit modules electrically coupled, and are arranged in the direction to the electrodes of battery cells and spaced apart with each other in the side direction of battery cells; a battery management system (BMS) which has a communication terminal at one side and is installed at a space between the sub-modules spaced apart; a base plate which mounts the sub-modules and the BMS; an upper cover plate which is fastened to the sub-modules and, with a harness cover being integrated, to the sub modules and base plate; a front cover plate which is mounted on the top surface of the base plate, and coupled to the base plate and the cover plate, and has input/output terminals at opposite ends to which a relay and a fuse are electrically coupled; and a harness cover which is mounted on the top surfaces of the sub-modules to measure the voltage and the temperature from the battery cells.
