An apparatus and a method for recognizing a distance of a stereo type are disclosed. The apparatus for recognizing a distance of a stereo type comprises: a communication unit receiving a first signal and a second signal reflected from an object; and a processing unit comparing the first signal with the second signal and calculating a distance to the object based on the comparison result and the amplitude of at least one signal of the first and second signals.
