<p>Provided are an optical communication receiver and a chip used for the same. The optical communication receiver comprises: a photo diode for converting and outputting an optical signal received from an optical communication transmitter according to the present invention into an optical electric current which is an electric signal; a transimpedance amplifier for amplifying and outputting the outputted optical electric current; and a plurality of overcurrent compensation circuit units for reducing an optical electric current inputted by the transimpedance amplifier when the optical electric current outputted from the photo diode exceeds a particular value, wherein the overcurrent compensation circuit units are switched and connected with the photo diode and transimpedance amplifier by each optical communication receiving mode.</p>
