<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel phosphorus-containing epoxy resin, a cured material of which exhibits excellent flame retardancy, which is obtained by epoxidation of a phosphorus-containing phenol resin by a reaction with epihalohydrins, the phosphorus-containing phenol resin having a structure where a portion of hydrogen atoms of phenolic hydroxyl groups are substituted with phosphorus-containing groups, and oxygen atoms derived from phenolic hydroxyl groups and phosphorus atoms of phosphorus-containing groups are bonded, and also to provide a method for producing the novel phosphorus-containing epoxy resin, an epoxy resin composition containing the novel phosphorus-containing epoxy resin, a cured material obtained by curing the epoxy resin composition, and a copper clad laminate having the epoxy resin composition as a matrix resin.SOLUTION: Provided is a method for producing a phosphorus-containing epoxy resin comprising reacting a phosphorus-containing phenol resin with epihalohydrins in an aprotic solvent, the phosphorus-containing phenol resin having both of a mono- or di-valent group having a phosphorus-containing group represented by a specific general formula and a mono- or di-valent group having a phenolic hydroxyl group as essential constitutional units.</p> |
