PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the number of foreign materials and scratches on a surface of a glass substrate after polishing processing.SOLUTION: A manufacturing method of a glass substrate for magnetic disk includes: polishing processing of holding a glass substrate carrier and the glass substrate between an upper surface plate and a lower surface plate, in a state where an outer peripheral end surface of the glass substrate is held in a glass substrate holding hole that is provided in the glass substrate carrier and includes a plurality of glass clothes composed of glass fiber and resin material impregnated in the plurality of glass clothes, and polishing a principal face of the glass substrate; and etching processing of, after the polishing processing, etching the glass fiber exposed from the principal face of the glass substrate carrier by the polishing processing with an etching solution. |
