PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical coupling mechanism capable of being installed in a narrow space using an optical connector having a simple structure.SOLUTION: An optical coupling structure includes: a first optical connector having a ferrule 11 mounted at the tip of one optical fiber F1 and a flange 12 belonging to the bottom of the ferrule 11, an optical connector having a ferrule 21 mounted at the tip of the other optical fiber F2 and a flange 22 belonging to the bottom of the ferrule 21, and a split sleeve 30 for aligning the optical axis of the ferrules 11 and 21. One of connectors has a U-shaped holder 14 for interleaving the flanges 12 and 22.
