The present invention relates to a liquid crystal display device and a driving method thereof. The liquid crystal display device includes a display panel which includes a plurality of data lines, a plurality of gate lines, and pixels which are arranged in a matrix, a data driving unit which outputs a target gradation voltage of pixel data and an afterimage prevention voltage in each horizontal period in an afterimage prevention driving mode, a gate driving unit which successively outputs a gate pulse synchronized with the target gradation voltage of the pixel data and the afterimage prevention voltage to the gate lines and a timing controller which transmits the pixel data to the data driving unit and controls the data driving unit and the gate driving unit. |
