PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a remaining life predicting method and a remaining life predicting apparatus that can predict the remaining lives of display apparatuses with the temperature differences at the times of brightness measurements being taken into account.SOLUTION: The brightness levels of the display screen of a monitor 1 are measured with an optical sensor 19, at the same time the temperatures around the display screen are measured with a temperature sensor 20, and the measured brightness levels and temperatures are stored in association with each other by a terminal apparatus 3. On the basis of a plurality of brightness levels and temperatures obtained by repeated measurements by the monitor 1, the terminal apparatus 3 predicts the trend of brightness variation in a supposed case of substantially constant temperature at measurements, and predicts the remaining life of the monitor 1 according to the predicted trend of variation. The terminal apparatus 3 calculates the time when the brightness level of the monitor 1 will fail to reach the critical brightness level on the basis of the predicted trend of brightness variation, and can determine this time as the end of the remaining life of the monitor 1. |
