PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide secreted-type luciferase which is different from conventional ones.SOLUTION: Provided are: a novel luciferase variant of known mutant 19 kDa luminescence catalytic protein which, when expressed in a cultured animal cell, is secreted outside the cell even if there is no secretion signal; polynucleotides encoding the luciferase variant; recombinant vectors; transformants; methods for producing the luciferase variant; kits; and methods for performing luminous reaction.
