PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the quality of an optical signal.SOLUTION: An optical transmitter includes a circuit 131 controlling a first frequency component and a second frequency component included in an optical signal to be transmitted to different polarization states from each other. More particularly, an optical modulator 134-1 generates a x polarized wave by modulating laser light on the basis of first and second drive signals generated by a drive signal generating unit 131A. Similarly, an optical modulator 134-2 generates a y polarized wave by modulating laser light on the basis of third and fourth drive signals generated by the drive signal generating unit 131A. The x polarized wave and the y polarized wave are polarized waves orthogonal to each other.
