PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent interference between a metal mold and a mold clamping mechanism in installing the metal mold between a fixed platen and a movable platen even if plates are added between the metal mold and the platens.SOLUTION: A maximum thickness value Mmax (=Dmax-&Sgr;P(i)-a) of a metal mold which can be installed is determined from a sum of thicknesses &Sgr;P(i) of plates to be added between the metal mold and platens, a metal mold thickness M, a maximum platen-to-platen distance Dmax between a fixed platen and a movable platen included in an injection molding machine, and a gap a needed for installation. If the metal mold thickness M is not larger than the maximum value Mmax, a platen-to-platen distance D (=M+&Sgr;P(i)+a) is found and a rear platen and the movable platen are moved so that a distance between the fixed platen and the movable platen becomes the platen-to-platen distance D. If the metal mold thickness M exceeds the maximum value Mmax, an alarm is displayed. This can prevent interference between the metal mold and a mold-clamping mechanism etc. in installing the metal mold. |
