PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method of float plate glass that can manufacture defect-free high quality plate glass by preventing bubbles from being drawn into molten glass in a float bath for molding the molten glass.SOLUTION: A molten metal is held in a float bath having a plurality of bottom brick pieces arranged in the bottom casing, and molten glass is supplied onto the molten metal to form a glass ribbon. After the float bath holds the molten metal and the outer surface temperature of the bottom is kept at a control temperature that is the melting point of tin or lower by cooling the bottom casing, the molten glass is supplied onto the molten metal to form the glass ribbon. In this case, after the outer surface temperature of the bottom of the bottom casing is kept in a high temperature range where the temperature is higher than the control temperature by 15°C or more, and 200°C or lower, the outer surface temperature of the bottom of the bottom casing is lowered to the specific control temperature and then the glass ribbon is formed. |
