PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a substrate manufacturing apparatus for suppressing the aggregation of a platinum group metal evaporated from molding equipment, thereby to prevent the aggregate of the platinum group metal from migrating into sheet glass.SOLUTION: A method for manufacturing a glass substrate by a down-draw method comprises: a melting step of melting a glass material into molten glass; and a molding step of molding the molten glass into a sheet glass SG in a molding furnace 30 by using molding equipment 210 having at least a portion made of a platinum group metal. The method is characterized in that the atmosphere temperature is so adjusted by using adjusting means arranged in said molding furnace 30 as to adjust the atmosphere in said molding furnace 30, so that aggregation of a platinum group metal evaporated from the molding equipment 210 is suppressed. |
