<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a charger which activates a battery by applying a pulse current before charging operation, when a lithium ion battery is connected.SOLUTION: A charger which charges a lithium ion battery includes a battery state determination means, a charging means including an AC-DC conversion circuit, and a switch means that is connected to the charging means. The battery state determination means is inputted with an output voltage of the lithium ion battery, and based on the output voltage or the like, outputs a control signal for controlling on/off of the switch means based on the output voltage or the like. The battery state determination means controls so that the battery state determination means (1) supplies a pulse-like signal generated by the switch means, to the lithium ion battery at predetermined number of times, and determines the lithium ion battery to be chargeable when the output voltage of the lithium ion battery exceeds a first reference voltage, (2) starts charging by turning on the switch means when it is determined that charging is possible, (3) stops charging by turning off the switch means when the output voltage of the lithium ion battery reaches a second reference voltage.</p> |
