<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently and properly perform preliminary discharge.SOLUTION: An ink discharge type printer 1 drives a nozzle of a recording head 15 to be moved in a main scanning direction toward a conveyed paper sheet by a head driver 16 and discharges ink drops so as to form images. The ink discharge type printer 1 spends prescribed preliminary discharge time to cause all nozzles to perform preliminary discharge at a paper sheet interval between a previous paper sheet and a next paper sheet of continuously conveyed paper sheets. The ink discharge type printer detects the paper sheet interval by a register sensor 30 in the preliminary discharge, adjusts at least one of non-image formation time conveyance speed of the paper sheet until image formation is started on the next paper sheet after completion of image formation on the previous paper sheet and the preliminary discharge time on the basis of the paper sheet interval, the conveyance speed of the paper sheet and the preliminary discharge time, and performs the preliminary discharge at the paper sheet interval.</p> |
