The present invention relates to a catalysts used for manufacturing glycol from sorbitol made by immersing metal in a composite metal oxide supporting body having ceria-zirconia. More specifically, the present invention relates to metal, which is immersed by which platinum and/or samarium are is immersed in the ceria-zirconia supporting body whose content of ceria and zirconium can be controlled in a fixed range for the total amount of metal among the supporting body, and a catalyst whose specific area is large and stability is good at high temperatures and pressure, thereby having a good reactive activity.
