The present technology pertains to: a reception device that enables the continuation of the display of fragmented text information; a method for controlling the reception device; a distribution device; a distribution method; a program; and a distribution system. A reception unit receives a stream of content distributed live from an IPTV server; a TT decoder analyzes fragmented text information corresponding to subtitle data contained in the received stream; and in accordance with the analysis results of the TT decoder a display control unit controls the display of first text information in a manner so as to be continued when displaying second text information that is started to be displayed afterwards in time from the first text information. The present technology can for example be applied to an IPTV client for IPTV which distributes digital television broadcasts using internet protocol. |
