In order to address the problem of providing a production method that is for an α-fluoro acrylic acid ester and exhibits a high raw-material conversion rate and a high yield, the production method according to the present invention is for a compound expressed by formula (1) (in the formula: R1 and R2 are the same or different and represent an alkyl group, a fluoroalkyl group, a halogen atom, a hydrogen atom, or an aryl group that may include one or more substituent groups; and R3 represents an alkyl group, a fluoroalkyl group, or an aryl group that may include one or more substituent groups), and includes a step (A) in which the compound expressed by formula (1) is obtained by a compound expressed by formula (2) (in the formula, the symbols represent the same as above) being reacted with carbon monoxide and an alcohol expressed by formula (3) (R3-OH [in the formula, the symbols represent the same as above]) in the presence of a base and a transition metal complex catalyst containing a bidentate phosphine ligand. |
