The suspension spring is provided with first sections (11b) and second sections (w1) that corrode more easily than the first sections (11b). The compressive residual stress in the area up to 0.5 mm from the surface of the second section (w1) is at least 800 MPa. Even if corrosion of the second section (w1) progresses to 0.5 mm from the surface, fatigue strength is maintained by the 800 MPa or greater compressive residual stress.
