PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a system that are simpler and more robust, for controlling the execution of an active member operation event during each combustion cycle or several combustion cycles relating to each cylinder of a multi-cylinder internal combustion engine.SOLUTION: A method includes: a step of capturing a first instantaneous value of a control parameter in a first discrete stage using a sensor unit; a step of generating a first data package including the captured first value and data that indicates a value of an internal clock of the sensor unit; a step of transmitting the first data package to a control unit including an internal clock synchronized with the internal clock of the sensor unit, on a communication network; and a step of controlling execution of an operation event using the control unit. The control unit controls the execution of the operation event by extrapolation of data obtained at least partially from the first data package.
