<p>Various embodiments of the present invention relate to a method for performing an operation corresponding to an insertion direction in a protective case and an electronic device therefore. The electronic device according to one embodiment among the various embodiments of the present invention includes at least one magnetic force sensor which senses a magnetic force generated when the electronic device is inserted into the protective case, and a control unit which determines the insertion direction of the electronic device in the protective case based on a signal sensed by the magnetic force sensor and performs a predetermined function by corresponding to the insertion direction.
