PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide inflatable individual user support surfaces having respective controllers that regulate supply of a liquid as a function of various characteristics of the individual user support surfaces.SOLUTION: A control system 16 of a patient support surface 12 calculates a surface performance index as a function of pressure and shear. The control system also receives, from an electronic medical record (EMR), information corresponding to a user's susceptibility of developing at least one of a pressure ulcer and a superficial lesion and adjusts at least one of a component and a characteristic of the user support surface on the basis of the information. |
