PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide topical compositions for treating symptoms of reduced skin elasticity, that is, for curing, reversing, and/or preventing signs of skin aging, including fine lines and wrinkles in the skin.SOLUTION: The compositions contain DL-desthiobiotin or topically applicable salts or prodrugs thereof as active ingredients. The compositions topically applied to the skin have an effect of promoting lysyl oxidase-like 1 (LOXL-1) activity, and thereby can increase elastin remodeling and improve appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, skin sagging and other symptoms of reduced elastin function. |
