PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a polarizing plate with excellent appearance.SOLUTION: A method for manufacturing a polarizing plate includes the steps of: preparing a laminate 10 in which a polyvinyl alcohol resin layer 12 is formed on a resin base material 11 by applying a coating liquid containing a polyvinyl alcohol resin and a surface active agent onto the resin base material 11; preparing a polarizing film 12' by stretching and dyeing the polyvinyl alcohol resin layer formed on the resin base material; preparing an optical functional film laminate 100 by laminating an optical functional film 20 on the polarizing film side of the laminate; and peeling the resin base material from the optical functional film laminate. The content of the surface active agent in the coating liquid is not more than 0.5 pt.wt. with respect to 100 pts.wt. of the polyvinyl alcohol resin.
