The present invention provides a two-dimensional code reading device capable of extending the service life of auxiliary lighting. This two-dimensional code reading device is characterized in being provided with: an image read-in unit for acquiring a two-dimensional code image printed on a ticket medium; a specific pattern detection unit for detecting, from the two-dimensional code image acquired by the image read-in unit, a specific pattern for identifying the two-dimensional code; a two-dimensional code decoding unit for reading information recorded in the two-dimensional code detected by the specific pattern detection unit; an auxiliary lighting for irradiating the ticket medium with light; and an auxiliary lighting control unit for controlling turning-on/turning-off of the auxiliary lighting, the auxiliary lighting control unit causing the auxiliary lighting to turn on when a specific pattern is detected by the specific pattern detection unit and when the information recorded in the two-dimensional code cannot be read by the two-dimensional code decoding unit.
