<p>This disclosure pertains to a decoding device, a decoding method, an encoding device, and an encoding method that make it possible to increase encoding efficiency when the image being encoded is increased or reduced in size. A reference-image buffer increases or reduces the size of a reference image on the basis of a value (log2_expanding_factor) that indicates the factor by which to increase or reduce the size of said reference image relative to an inter-encoded image. A generation unit uses the reference image, the size of which has been increased or reduced, to generate a prediction image. The inter-encoded image is decoded using said prediction image. This disclosure can be applied, for example, to a High Efficiency Video Coding (HEVC) decoding device or the like.</p> |
