PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an aqueous pigment dispersion for providing an inkjet recording ink which can be applied to a printer carrying a high resolution inkjet head and has a small volume average diameter and excellent discharge stability, and to provide an inkjet recording aqueous ink using the same.SOLUTION: There is provided an aqueous pigment dispersion which contains a pigment, an anionic-group-containing polymer and a water-soluble solvent and/or water. The anionic-group-containing polymer has an intrinsic viscosity in the range of 8 to 14 ml/g.
