PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display device capable of suppressing the deterioration of a display element, while suppressing discomfort to a user, even when the display device is used for a long time.SOLUTION: A display device 100 includes a light source part 102, a display element part 103 including a plurality of mirrors reflecting light from the light source part, a drive part 105 driving each mirror based on an inputted video signal, to allow the display element part to generate image light corresponding to a video signal, a projection part 104 projecting the image light generated by a display element onto a projection surface, a shutter part 106 provided on an optical path between the light source part and the projection surface, and a control part 110 bringing the shutter part into an open state, when projecting the image light, bringing the shutter part into a closed state, when accepting a closing instruction to close the shutter part, and performing the maintenance operation of each mirror. |
