Provided is a method for producing briquettes in which, in an apparatus for producing molten iron comprising a melter-gasifier into which reduced iron is fed, and a reducing furnace connected to the melter-gasifier and supplying the reduced iron, the briquettes are fed into the domed part of the melter-gasifier and heated rapidly. The method for producing briquettes comprises the steps of: i) supplying pulverized coal; ii) supplying a raw sugar binder at 0-12 wt% with respect to 100 wt% pulverized coal; iii) supplying a mixture by adding the raw sugar binder to the pulverized coal; and iv) molding the mixture to supply the briquettes.
