Provided are: a water-based ink for inkjet recording having excellent discharge stability and storage stability, having excellent quick-drying fixing properties and image uniformity particularly when forming an image on a low water-absorbency ink recording medium; and an image-forming method using said water-based ink. [1]A water-based ink for inkjet printing containing a pigment, water-insoluble polymer, organic solvent (C) and water, wherein the organic solvent (C) contains diethylene glycol isopropyl ether (DEGPE) and an organic solvent (c2) having a smaller 1-octanol/water partition coefficient than DEGPE, and the total content ratio of pigment, water-insoluble polymer and DEGPE is at least 5.0 mass%, and the value obtained by multiplying the total content ratio of pigment and water-insoluble polymer by the DEGPE content ratio is 10-300. [2] An image-forming method in which a container filled with the water-based ink is fitted to an inkjet recording device having an ink-scattering means, and ink is scattered onto a recording medium having a water absorption of 0-10g/m2 at a contact time with demineralized water of 100ms to print an image. |
