<p>A user equipment (UE) combines baton and hard handover procedures to reduce handover latency, and improve throughput. In one instance, the UE receives a handover command and in response, substantially simultaneously initiates both a hard handover procedure and a baton handover procedure. When a hard handover response is received before a baton handover response, the UE continues with the hard handover procedure and then aborts the baton handover procedure. When the baton handover response is received before a hard handover response, the UE continues with the baton handover procedure and then aborts the hard handover procedure.</p> |
