PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the deviation of oil seal relative to a crank shaft to prevent leakage of oil even if a cover member is easy to deform due to thermal influence of an engine body.SOLUTION: An internal combustion engine comprises an oil seal attached to a crank shaft, a resinous timing chain cover (TCC) 20 including an oil seal fixing portion for fixing the oil seal, and a plurality of through-holes 22b in which stepped bolts 90 for mounting the TCC to an engine body 10; and a seal member 5 disposed between the TCC and the engine body. The TCC is mounted to the engine body by the stepped bolts so as to be separated from the engine body through a seal member. An inner diameter of the through-hole of the TCC is set to such a size that creates a space S capable of absorbing the deviation of the through-hole due to at least either of the thermal expansion or thermal contraction of the TCC between an inner surface 22e of the through-hole and an outer surface 92a of the stepped bolt.
|
