A vibration detection mechanism has a first sensor unit that detects vibration in a first direction, which is a main vibration direction for a vibrating member of a musical instrument, a second sensor unit which detects vibration in a second direction substantially orthogonal to the first direction for the vibrating member, and a third sensor unit that detects vibration in a third direction substantially orthogonal to both the first direction and the second direction for the vibrating member. The sensitivity of the second sensor unit is greater than the sensitivity of the first sensor unit.
