This category name extraction device is provided with: a specification means which specifies, as reference phrases, those phrases that are contained in item information about multiple items which belong to various categories in a parallel relationship, that have a modifying or modified relation to the category name to which the item information belongs, and that are common to item information for multiple items which belong to at least multiple different categories; an extraction means which extracts, as category name candidates, those phrases that are not names of the categories and that are included in item information belonging to one of the categories and are in a modifying or modified relation to a reference phrase; and an output means which outputs the category name candidates extracted by the extraction means. |
