SCALE REMOVAL DEVICE IN ELECTRIC RESISTANCE WELDED STEEL PIPE PRODUCTION LINE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique for eliminating various problems (such as deterioration of working environment, sensor failure and pit flaws on a steel plate) resulting from oxidized scale inevitably occurring on a coil surface.SOLUTION: A scale removal device is provided in an electric resistance welded steel pipe production line equipped with rewinding means for rewinding a coil-shaped steel plate conveyed from a hot-rolling line and pipe forming means for forming the rewound steel plate into a pipe shape. The scale removal device includes a pair of brushes sandwiching both surfaces of the steel plate rewound by the rewinding means, and a dust collecting box covering the surrounding of the pair of brushes. The pair of brushes are arranged in the previous stage of the pipe forming means in a manner that the steel plate passes the brushes at an angle approximately perpendicular to a floor surface.
