It is now understood that, from the preclinical stage of Alzheimer's disease, abnormalities in spine formation and the like occur due to worsening phosphorylation of MARCKS and the like, thereby leading to the onset of the disease in the patient. It is also understood that PCK and the like are responsible for phosphorylation of MARCKS and the like, and that b-raf participates in phosphorylation of the tau protein, which is important for the advance of Alzheimer's disease. Accordingly, it was discovered that these proteins are useful target molecules for the diagnosis and treatment of Alzheimer's disease. It is also now understood that, in the preclinical stage of frontotemporal lobar degeneration as well, a decrease in the number of spines and the like occurs due to a worsening of phosphorylation of b-RAF, thereby leading to the onset of the disease in the patient. Accordingly, it was discovered that b-RAF is a useful target molecule for the diagnosis and treatment of frontotemporal lobar degeneration. |
