A system for user recognition according to the present invention includes: an image acquisition control unit which renews a background image based on a lighting change through the comparison of a received watching image and a preregistered background image; a MCT converting unit which converts the preregistered background image or the renewed background image through modified census transform (MCT) to generate a MCT background image and converts the watching image through the MCT to generate a MCT watching image; and a difference image processing unit which generates a relaxed difference image with the MCT watching image and the MCT background image.
