PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device for detecting a state of discharged liquid droplets, the device capable of accurately detecting a state of discharged ink droplets even when the optical axis of a light beam is tilted.SOLUTION: A device 103 for detecting a state of discharged liquid droplet, which is used in an image forming apparatus, includes a light emitter A having a light emitting element 204 and a collimator lens 205, a light emitting unit 208, a moving mechanism 210, a light emission driver, and a light receiver B having a pair of light receiving elements 206 and 216 disposed on both sides of a beam diameter of the light beam 203 via an optical axis. The light receiving element 216 detects the state of the ink droplets discharged from a first nozzle 11 of a first row located far from the light receiver B to have a threshold value or more capable of detecting a scattered light amount under the saturated state of offset light. The light receiving element 206 detects the state of the ink droplets discharged from a nozzle 1n, the n-th nozzle of the first row, located close to the light receiver B to have a threshold value or more capable of detecting a scattered light amount under the saturated state of offset light. |
