DRILLING FLUID ADJUSTMENT AGENT AND DRILLING FLUID USING SAME

Provided are: a drilling fluid adjustment agent using a PVA-based resin capable of contributing to the suppression of hydration/swelling of bentonite even in the presence of salts; and a drilling fluid using same. The drilling fluid adjustment agent contains a PVA-based resin containing a 1, 2 diol structural unit on a side chain thereof. The drilling fluid adjustment agent has excellent solubility in the presence of salts such as potassium ions and also has excellent suppression of bentonite hydration/swelling.
