PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical fiber lateral input/output device capable of reliably receiving leakage light from a bending part of an optical fiber covered with a tube.SOLUTION: An optical fiber lateral input/output device is used in a tubed optical fiber provided with a coated fiber and a tube covering the coated fiber with a gap held therebetween. The optical fiber lateral input/output device comprises a first jig with a curved recess and a second jig with a protrusion having a shape corresponding to the recess. By sandwiching and pressing the tubed optical fiber between the recess and the protrusion, a bending part is formed in the coated fiber, and also, while the tube is deformed by a press-contact part, the tube is made come into press-contact with the coated fiber on a path of leakage light leaking from the bending part. As a consequence, clearance on the path of the leakage light is squeezed, and the leaked leakage light is incident on a probe fiber without passing through the clearance. |
