PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a purification catalyst which can purify nitric acid sufficiently while suppressing generation of ammonia.SOLUTION: A purification catalyst 1 is used for purifying nitric acid. The purification catalyst 1 contains: a catalyst particle 2 consisting of the metal oxide having a function of an n-type semiconductor; an inorganic acid 3; and water 4. The purification catalyst 1 is used, at the least, under a light irradiation condition or under a heating condition. The metal oxide is preferably titanium oxide and/or a compound oxide containing titanium at the least. The inorganic acid 3 is preferably perchloric acid. |
