PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To assure good steering characteristic by solving the problem of phase shift between a steering angle of a steering wheel and a steering angle of a wheel.SOLUTION: A steering device 1 for a vehicle is provided with a phase adjusting member 33 on any one side of a clutch upper stage 31 and a clutch lower stage 32 constituting a clutch 30, and includes a detection sensor 35 which is provided to face the phase adjusting member 33 on the other side, for detecting approach or separation from the phase adjusting member 33. Even if a phase shift occurs due to some reason between the clutch upper stage 31 side (steering wheel side) and the clutch lower stage 32 side (steering device side), based on the detection result of the detection sensor 35, either the clutch upper stage 31 side or the clutch lower stage 32 side is rotated around axis to match both phases, assuring good steering characteristic.
