PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to detect wrong-way driving in various environments in which vehicles travel in a wrong-way driving detector for detecting wrong-way driving of an own vehicle.SOLUTION: A wrong-way driving warning system extracts one or a plurality of sign candidates each having a road sign shape from a picked-up image obtained by imaging a front or rear area of an own vehicle (S210); and recognizes a sign symbol indicating characters or a symbol representing a road sign from within each of areas of the sign candidates, and calculates a probability that the sign symbols can be recognized (S250, S310, and S320). Furthermore, the wrong-way driving warning system determines whether wrong-way driving of the own vehicle occurs on the basis of the probability that the sign symbols can be recognized from the sign candidates (S330). The wrong-way driving warning system configured in this way detects the wrong-way driving using the probability that the sign symbols can be recognized from the sign candidates, so that it is possible to detect the wrong-way driving not only on highways but also in various environments in which vehicles travel. |
