PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve accuracy to detect change in atmospheric pressure.SOLUTION: A portable electronic device (smart phone, for example) 1 has a housing, an atmospheric pressure sensor 19, and a controller 10. The atmospheric pressure sensor 19 detects atmospheric pressure in the sealed housing. The controller 10 performs control on the basis of the atmospheric pressure detected by the atmospheric pressure sensor 19. The controller 10 ignores change in the atmospheric pressure when operation by a user to the device itself is detected. Furthermore, the controller 10 may ignore change in the atmospheric pressure when operation to a touch screen display 2 is detected.
