Provided is an excrement treatment material which has a composite-layer structure comprising a core section and a surface layer, is obtained by adhering the surface layer to the core section by using the adhesive strength of a water-absorbing polymer in the surface-layer formulating material without using an adhesive, and suitably exhibits the water-absorption ability and water-transport ability inherent to the surface layer. The present invention is configured by: mixing a crushed water-absorbing polymer (7) crushed to a particle diameter of 20-50μm into the formulating material of a surface layer (2); non-continuously forming a high-moisture section by adding water to the surface (1a) of the core section (1); non-continuously forming an adhering section (8) by reacting the crushed water-absorbing polymer (7) in the surface-layer formulating material with the water in the high-moisture section; adhering the surface layer (2) to the core-section surface (1a) via the adhering section (8); and when absorbing urine, accelerating the permeation of the urine into the interior of the core section (1) in a section (9) other than the adhering section (8) between the surface layer (2) and the core-section surface (1a). |
