This alkali metal ion capacitor includes a positive electrode, a negative electrode, a separator interposed between the positive electrode and the negative electrode, and an electrolyte that includes alkali metal ions and anions. The thickness of the separator is 10 μm or less. The positive electrode includes a positive electrode current collector having a metal skeleton of three-dimensional network form, and a positive electrode active material supported on the positive electrode current collector. The negative electrode includes a negative electrode current collector having a metal skeleton of three-dimensional network form, and a negative electrode active material supported on the negative electrode current collector. The maximum roughness (Rz1) of the surface of the positive electrode and the maximum roughness (Rz2) of the surface of the negative electrode are each 35 μm or less.
