<p>An internal combustion engine includes a cylinder head, and an ignition plug. An opposed portion has a first surface opposed to a center electrode, and a second surface opposite to the first surface. The plug body is mounted in the cylinder head such that a first direction and a second direction intersect with each other in at least a part of operating regions of the internal combustion engine. The first direction is a direction of airflow produced around the center electrode and a ground electrode at the time of ignition of the ignition plug. The second direction is a direction from the center electrode toward a connection portion. A distance between at least a part of the second surface of the opposed portion and the plug body increases toward a downstream side of the airflow in the first direction.</p> |
